The Beast of Memory – a satyr-satire of miscegenated race, hermaphrodite body,
slender fingers. A low-tech, low-budget freak of nature referencing gargoyles and the medieval sensibility where
human and animal share one body. It climbs up and down a ladder, makes
repairs in the tunnel by knitting a covering for one of the pipes, listens
with stethoscope to the dead center of a loudspeaker on a communication
box marked "Central Control." The Beast spits up black marbles through an anus-mouth, it knits, it counts stitches as if they are rosary
beads, it murmurs, it gathers thread in a large ball from the phone and
power cords running along the wall.
